Liu Geng Tang (The He¡¯s Ancestral Temple)

Located in Lu Jiang Zhou Dao of Bei Cun village, it is the He¡¯s ancestral temple in Shawan, built in 1275 Yuan Dynasty, having experienced lots of disasters, being destroyed and set up many times. The current status has been kept from Qing Dynasty in 1700, extended according to relevant specifications standards from government official temple with total 17 years to complete.


The whole status of the temple is in the high terrain in the north and low in the south, covering an area of 3334.25 square meters with the half against half layout to set up, consisting of front door, bell and drum tower, rites door, rooms at the east and west sides, court yard, appended temple, etc. The various architectures were built according to the functions of religion and rites in ancient times to design the layout, to spread away according to the axis of the array and symmetrically on both sides. The layout, structure and grant decoration shows the excellent skills on the ancient architectures, which also reflects the ancient Feng Shui Theory in the optimal location and base.


In 1983, after Mr. Xia Ding - the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China founder of modern archaeology visited it, liu Geng Tang was considered as the Complex Ancient Architecture Art Palace in Lingnan.
